Sony Ericsson C510

Sony Ericsson C510

The Sony Ericsson C510 is a Cyber-shot 3G phone and comes equipped with Sony’s normal excellent music player, including an FM radio.

The C510 is a light-weight bar phone, available in a choice of black or silver, weighs only 92g and measures 107mm long, 47mm wide and 12.5mm deep. But it appears Sony has compromised the size of the keypad to accommodate the 2.2” screen which does have a reasonably high resolution.

As this is a Cyber-shot phone, its 3.2 megapixel camera is excellent compared with others offered at similar prices. Besides having face detection autofocus and LED flash, it also includes geo-tagging and can record video footage. An additional feature is a small camera at the front which facilitates video calling. A Smile Shutter function is also available, which photographs automatically when subjects no more than a few feet away from the camera are smiling.

The C510 comes equipped with an excellent music player which includes options for enhanced bass frequencies and downloading ringtones. Bluetooth and USB connectivity options are available. However, this phone does not support Wi-Fi access, although it does have Internet options.

A built-in accelerometer not only powers motion-based gaming, but also allows the display to switch between portrait and landscape layout and is useful for viewing photographs.

For its retail price, the C510’s 100 MB of built-in memory, compares well with similarly priced rivals. The memory can be boosted by up to 4 GB by using a memory stick.
